Leave request 🌴

Hi, I would like to request 2 days of annual leave: Thu Nov 19 to Fri Nov 20. My houseplants have booked time off too, and someone has to water them. I will make sure my work is covered before then. Thank you!

Excuse 8 of 12

Excuses for laughs only: annual leave never needs a reason, and asking early is still the best argument.

Three moves to get the most from your leave

1

Thursday launch, four-day weekend

GTA 6 comes out on a Thursday. Take Thursday 19 and Friday 20 November off: two days of leave, four days in a row with the game.

2

US: stack it with Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving falls on Thursday 26 November. Take Monday 23 to Wednesday 25 and Friday 27 too, and you get eleven days in a row from launch day for six days of PTO.

3

UK: check what is left before 31 December

If your leave year ends on 31 December, the days you have not used are usually lost unless your contract allows carry-over. A few of them may already have a purpose.

How we estimate the hours

Rockstar has not published how long GTA 6 takes to finish, so the three goals are estimates you can override with your own number. The anchor: Rob Nelson, head of development at Rockstar North, told the New York Times that his own playthrough, optional goals included, took about 80 hours. For comparison, players report about 32 hours for GTA V's story and about 50 for Red Dead Redemption 2's, and over 150 hours to reach 100% in Red Dead.

Goal Estimate Basis
Main story about 50 h In line with Red Dead Redemption 2's story, Rockstar's last open world
Story + side content about 80 h Rob Nelson's playthrough with optional goals (NYT, August 2026)
100% about 150 h Between GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 at 100% on HowLongToBeat

The calculator then walks your calendar day by day from launch: days off (weekends, public holidays of your country, leave) give you the hours you set for a free day, working days give you the evening hours. Leave goes on the first working days after launch, because that is the plan that gets you to the end soonest, and it skips any day the evening alone would cover.

Running a team? Everyone wants 20 November off

Launch week is a classic: three requests for the same Friday, discovered too late. Bueggio HR shows who is already off when someone books, can cap how many people from a team are away on the same day, and lets managers approve in one click, from Slack or Teams too.

See how it works
  • Overlaps shown before a request is sent
  • A cap on absences per department
  • One-click approvals, from email, Slack or Teams

Leave requests your team will actually enjoy

Book, approve, see who is off. Bueggio HR keeps it that simple, for teams in any country.
